Lazy Day

I always plan to do 1000 things and more between Christmas and New year. But the family gatherings make me a bit lazy....
I still "have to" make the Christmas cards, I worked on it today, but I am not happy with my work!

One of the most inspiring activity this week was showing the documentary I bought at Convergence Long Beach to husband and daughter. It is a documentary about the Swiss-American tapestry weaver Silvia Heyden.

Difficult!

Today I have been trying to scan and to photograph my second set of Zwerger samples.

I cannot show how it looks in real life....they are made of fine silk and look luxurious...

I made several samples and one scarf (that I gave away, to someone on the other side of the world, so no photographs of it!


The last is the skirt of Grietje ...my inspiration for the samples.

The Blues?

Two weeks ago I set up a long warp, in blue cotton. The idea was to make a lot of samples and some scarves.
It turns out that I am not happy with the samples, and I am rethreading....hope it solves the problem.

Or is it the blue warp?

Stripes

The first warp was inspired by the colours of "Hans en Grietje"
I had these colours on my shelves....fine silk Nm60/2.

At first I had no idea what to do with it....It took me a week before I really got started.

Lisbeth Zwerger

Lisbeth zwerger is an illustrator of children's books.
It was daughter Els who made me look more closely at the details of the clothes in the drawings.

Very quickly I decided to take this as inspiration for a set of samples.

The next days (weeks) I will show what came out of this....and yes, I like this subject so much that I keep working on it.

Ik maakte dit voor de schooltentoonstelling "confronting" waarbij we samen met de "freezers verspaners" onze opleiding moesten tonen.
Ik inspireerde mij op de spanen, afval bij het freezen van metaal.
Nu nog op zoek naar een gepaste sluiting om er een bruikbaar juweeltje van te maken.
